Two straps cross asymmetrically over the instep and set into the vamp, so the hold is built into the line rather than added as a buckle. Stitched edge binding, a cutaway through the arch and a high V-cut back quarter carry the construction along the side where it's most visible, while the long point pulls the silhouette forward off the foot. The heel tapers to a fine stiletto over a contrast sole edge, so the shoe reads clean from the side as well as head on.
